Pampers Dry Max Controversy

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

http://www.facebook.com/pages/RECALL-PAMPERS-DRY-MAX-DIAPERS/124714717540863?v=wall

I normally don’t pay much heed to Facebook campaigns like this, but when I heard about this one on the Wall Street Journal This Morning podcast today, I took notice.

I’ve always used Pampers Cruisers (and Swaddlers) on my kids, the younger of whom is 22 months old. When Pampers switched to the new Dry Max style, we saw some negative reviews for it on Amazon (we use Subscribe & Save to buy them), but they mostly complained about their performance, capacity, etc. (I’m trying to keep this as delicate as possible.)

But soon after starting Sasha on the new diapers, she developed a nasty rash all down her, um, crack that for a little while had a few open sores. For over a week she was in so much pain that she screamed during her bath. I didn’t put two and two together until I heard this report and saw the Facebook page. After all, she had diaper rashes with the old style, so I never assumed it was the diaper causing it.  But the timing, and the fact that she hasn’t had a diaper rash in a long time, made me consider that there really was a connection.

Her rash has gotten a bit better, even though we’re still using the Dry Max. We are going to encourage her to use the potty more (something we’ve gotten away from in all the craziness of moving to a new house), and we’re going to try Huggies for awhile and see if that helps with the rash.

I don’t want to jump on the “Recall Pampers Now!” bandwagon, but I do want to take reasonable precautions to make sure my daughter is happy, healthy, and not in constant pain from diaper rash.

Sasha donned the Santa hat and started doing laps around our kitchen island. Only she knows why. But it was darned cute.

Day Out with Mommy!

Mommy and I had a great day yesterday. She took me to Baltimore to the Port Discovery children’s museum. There I got to climb and play and have lots and lots of fun.

Ugh

There are some days, when leaving my son at day care, I get the Mommy Guilt.  That, instead of working a job pushing pixels on some website, I should be raising my son and spending his formative years being his mommy.  There are some mornings when I regret taking a full time job, leaving the care and early education of my child to strangers, that I should be there for him.

And then there are mornings like this morning, when I walk up to the door of Sammy’s day care and announce to the kind teacher who opens the door, “Take my child now.”

Fire Engine!

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

At school today, we got a visit from firefighters in a big, red fire engine! They told us how to stop, drop and roll, and let us climb inside the fire engine and gave us red fire hats and “Junior Deputy” stickers. I had so much fun!

Sick Again

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

On Wednesday night, I woke up from sleeping with a cough, and then I threw up all over my bed. That made me sad. Daddy washed me in the bathtub and Mommy cleaned my bed. I stayed home from school the next day and felt a little better, but then I threw up again after my nap.

Mommy took me to school on Friday, and I felt a little better but not really that great. But then when we got home, Grandmommy was there! It was really great to see her!

On Saturday we didn’t do very much because Mommy and Daddy didn’t feel so good. But Grandmommy stayed with me while Mommy and Daddy went out to celebrate their anniversary.

On Monday, though, everyone got sick tummies. I was okay a lot of the day, but I threw up in the afternoon again. We all stayed home on Monday and all the grown ups slept most of the day.

But we all are starting to feel better now.

My New Room!

Last weekend, I moved into my brand new room. Mommy has been working very hard painting it all summer. It’s green on the bottom and cream on top, just like Gordon’s coaches. And all around the room there is a scenic picture of Thomas and all of his friends!

I helped Daddy put the stickers on the wall.
Mommy and Daddy installed a whole new closet system to keep all of my clothes and books nice and neat.
Best of all, I have a brand new bed that’s just my height! I like to sleep there with all my fuzzy friends.

The whole room is a Thomas the Tank Engine paradise. I’ve got Thomas the Tank Engine curtains, Thomas sheets on my bed, and a giant stuffed Thomas to snuggle. I even have a Thomas beanie chair to sit in, but I like to sit on the floor or my bed when I read my books.

Mommy and Daddy still have more work to do, like put up some shelves and a curtain in front of the closet, but I really like it a lot!

Yay! Play Date!

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

On Sunday, Mommy and Daddy took me too my friend Ben’s house for a play date. I haven’t seen Ben in a long time, since he got a new sister. (She’s really cute.)

I had lots of fun. I claimed all of Ben’s trains as my own, and Ben kept tackling me over and over. Eventually, our mommies had to take away most of the toys because Ben was throwing them or we were fighting over them or something. But I still had fun.

When I got up Monday morning, all I wanted to do was go back to Ben’s house and play again!
